My Acne Battle

The haze was/is (not sure is it really over yet) quite bad lately, had a really bad throat and flu for more than a week during the hazy month. Well, not only my body suffers, my skin doesn't react so well to the polluted air too.

My poor skin encountered lots of acne and breakouts and it doesn't stop at all. I was so frustrated and didn't bare to look myself in the mirror. When I thought they're gone, they came back again. The cycle repeated for almost 3 weeks. :(

Here is my story of my acne battle, it was a tough one, really.

Skincare
I used the most light-weighted and natural skincare products that I have,

Kiehl's Cucumber Herbal Alcohol-Free Toner

Cucumber has calming effect to the skin and it doesn't clog pores. Meanwhile it's very gentle to my problem skin.

Belif The True Cream- Aqua Bomb

By far the lightest moisturizer that I've tried, made with natural ingredient. Its apothecary herbs has pore minimizing and antioxidant effect too.

Mask

I used this deep cleansing mask from Mary Kay to clean my pores, thrice a week. It works very well in removing my black and white head but for acne/ breakout, it's different story. Still I insisted in doing it for cleaner pores on my skin.

Tea Tree
I used both pure tea tree oil and acne path with tea tree in it too.

Tea tree is very well-known for acne skin. The antiseptic effect will help to sooth the breakouts/ acne while preventing the new formation of acne.

Apply with a cotton bud directly on the problem area.

Or sometimes I use this patch when I want the acne/breakout the be covered.

I apply tea tree oil/ acne patch at least 3 times a day for antiseptic purpose, or more when I feel it's necessary.

Despite I was very careful in choosing the product to use, they just don't stop. They recovered and reborn again and again. It was crazy, I never encountered a bad skin like this before. Usually only a few hormonic pimples will pop during the menstrual cycle.

Until one day, I discovered this....

BBs

It was before my piano performance, my skin was bad and I remember there was a big breakout under my chin! I had to conceal and covered it, it was a courtesy. So I covered my blemishes with Laneige Watery Cushion Concealer, then I gently stamped on some Laneige BB Cushion Pore Control on my face(full review is available on my previous post, or click here to read on). Miraculously, ALL BLEMISHES gone forever and ever after just one light makeup with BBs.

Then I remember, I experienced the same thing LONG AGO, with Kate's BB Cream. Apparently, BB cream stands for blemish balm, blemish base, beblesh balm, and beauty balm. The coverage is often mineral-based, and is intended to both cover and treat blemishes such as acne, sun spots and age spots. It also has anti-wrinkle, anti-inflammatory and soothing effects. (extracted from wikipedia) .

In my case, the BB cushion and BB cream dries up the acne! So magical but it works! :D

Please take care everyone! Stay hydrated and wear a mask whenever necessary!

4-in-1 Laneige Cushions' Makeup Review

Sponsored post

BB Cushions are so popular in Korean makeup, they're the fundamental to achieve that dewy and natural look. Among brands producing BB Cushions, Laneige is one of the brand that I always wanted to try.

A few weeks ago, I was invited to their Beauty Road with BB Cushion in Mid Valley.

The gorgeous Korean supermodel, Hwang Se-On was there too, she has the perfect and flawless skin!

Korean makeup artist demonstrating how to achieve that flawless and natural look.

The new BB Cushion with Pore Control.

Onto the exciting part, the review:

Laneige BB Cushion (Pore Control), Laneige Cushion Highlighter, Watery Cushion Concealer and K-secret Cushion Tint.

First, the BB Cushion Pore Control,
Simple and sophisticated case.

The shade I got is in Natural Beige, No. 21

Like any other BB Cushion it comes with a puff!

First surprise upon opening the packaging is the scent, it smells so so so good! I'm not the expert in describing scent but I'll try...little bit of flowery, it's the relaxing smell. There's no the usual makeup scent in it at all.

BB Cushion [Pore Control], SPF 50+ PA+++ (15g):

  • Pore Control
  • Pore Coverage
  • Semi-matte finish
  • Water resistant
  • Soothing effect
  • UV protection

I used it a few times after receiving this product from the launch, I presume all the girls know the application of BB Cushion, it can only be dab dab dab it onto the skin! It feels cold as if I were spraying mist onto my skin while applying, this is a bonus point about this BB Cushion. While it's a pore control cushion, it works very well in covering the pores. It lasts good without needing a touch up for more than 6 hours. On one of the day I applied this, I went out for lunch under scorching sun and did some housework after that, it STAYS. This surprise me the usual foundation melts especially on my T-zone area but this doesn't even I sweat. The Pore Purifying Complex formula in it does a good job in removing the sebum.

The cons?

It doesn't cover the blemishes very well, you'll need a concealer.

#nofilter , no deep cleansing for more than a week, my blackheads were piling up but they're all covered. Just look at my nose!

My Cushion Colour is in Natural Beige, I'd prefer Pink/ True Beige as I want a brighter skin tone.

First, the Cushion Highlighter,

Cushion Highlighter, SPF 30 PA++ (9g):

Highlighter with sun protection? That's new to me. The case design is same like the BB Cushion but it's smaller in size. It has the same scent like the BB Cushion!

Smaller puff for cushion highlighter.

Not recommended for under eye area as it's shimmery unless you're getting a dramatic look. Best use on the T-zone area.

Then, the Watery Cushion Concealer,
It's design like a pen, very portable.

With a soft cushion tip!

The first time I used this, the product only flew out after I pressed it for a few dozen times!

Very high coverage, good in covering the dark circle and blemishes. I would recommend to tap the product onto the palm then only apply to blemishes for hygienic purpose, given if you use one pen to cover both dark circle and blemishes.

Lastly, the K-secret Cushion Tint,
Shade is in Sweet Orange (5529)

The pigmentation is intensive, creamy texture with powdery finish.

Comes with an applicator.

Generally just apply the Tint on the center of the lips then even out with the applicator. The colour is over pigmented if apply the tint on the lips alone.

I only knew not long ago that this tint could be apply to the cheek area with the applicator too!

If I were to choose only one of out these four products, I would go for BB Cushion Pore Control. A Cushion that's perfectly fitting Malaysian woman needs living in all-year-summer country. By just applying the cushion helps the skin and prevent the forming of sebum oxidation and inflammation. Sun screen product is no necessary anymore with the high sun protection factor.

Muffin.my

Sponsored post

Honored to be still receiving a couple of product review invitations even though I've been procrastinate on blogging lately, now that I'm back and I'm going to clear up all the pending posts as soon as possible!

First off will be the review of Muffin's beauty box.

Products inside the beauty box.

Product that I received:-

  • ePure Membranous Jelly Masque
  • SilkyGirl Moisture Balm Lipcolor
  • Purevivi Cleansing Lotion
  • 2 Fcup Strawberry cookies
  • Some samples!

Two of the full-sized products to be reviewed on this post, Purevivi Cleansing Lotion & SilkyGirl Moisture Balm Lipcolor.

Purevivi Cleansing Lotion (RM 48.90, 500 ml)

The cleansing lotion made in Japan is free of the following substance:
  • Fragrance
  • Colour
  • Oil
  • Paraben
  • Alcohol
  • Surfactant

I love product like this, less burden to my sensitive skin, personally love the ingredient used mainly are from fruits' extracts, especially love the Aloe extract which has calming effect to the skin.

The texture is clear liquid with the scent of.....didn't really know how to describe, some chemical free skincare scent? If you've been loving chemical free products you would know what I meant.

Let's try to remove this waterproof eyeliner!

Application is simple, wet a cotton pad with the cleansing lotion.

After a few wipes, the eyeliner is gone!

The cleansing lotion is almost weightless although I could feel my skin is moisturized after using it. I would say this product is value for money with only RM 48.90 for 500 ml! It's available in Watson, Aeon Wellness and Sasa.

Next,

SilkyGirl Moisture Balm Lipcolor, RM 19.90

It's a lipbalm + lipstick.

To be honest, I'm not a lipstick person. I've no idea how to move my lips when conversing to someone if I'm using a lipstick? Haha...I need to learn!

The colour I received is in Apricot, 04.

Although the shade is in Apricot but the colour is more towards orangy, suitable for Asian-Chinese skin. For it's a 2 in 1 lipstick, I skip lipbalm application beforehand. Usually I won't, my lips will be flaky and dry on an usual lipstick. I can't leave my lipstick on for 10 hour long, so I didn't exactly know if the moisture level will be lasting that long. It's moisture enough upon the application, made the application easier and smoother.

The cons? You'll need multiple application for a better pigmentation.
