Song Hye Kyo Inspired Haircut (from Descendants of the Sun)

Who's watching this Korean Drama and obsessed with Song Hye Kyo like I do? She is a goddess and so pretty! 💕💕 I am so obsessed with this drama and Song Hye Kyo so I decided to had my haircut similar to hers in the drama!

Song Joong Ki is cute too!! Only 2 episodes a week is killing me hahaaa..the story plot is so exciting!

For the first time ever I showed a picture of a celebrity to hairstylist and requested him to cut my hair similar to Song Hye Kyo. Feeling a little embarrassed at first, but I desperately needed some change to my hair. I'm not a fan of hair colouring and never had my hair coloured before, to be honest I was feeling a little bored with the same hair style over the years. A lot of people told me that I can't change much for my hair unless I colour it or cut it very short (the boyish kind of short), I want neither one of them.

Haircut can change a person's look too!

Love my new hair! It looks different now without any hair colouring and chemical damage.

Why my bangs is not as short as Song Hye Kyo?

Despite I really love Song Hye Kyo, my face shape and figure, hair colour etc isn't the same as hers, my hair isn't as soft as hers too....My hairstylist Jason told me I can't had my bangs cut as short as hers, that would make me look like a kid. Well he was right, I tried to cut my bangs short once before, and it looked like this.

Very immature look!

She looks so mature even with short bangs! I did the middle parting and had my bangs trimmed slightly longer than hers to look more mature.

Styling is needed to achieve her look in the drama, it takes me 5 - 10 mins to style it with a straightener but since my hair is much shorter now, my hair blowing time is shorten too.

Very simple styling steps.

Start to curl my hair starts from the middle....then works towards the end. Curl the hair inwards and repeat the process. Spray some styling product after.

Simple and easy manageable hairstyle (to fit Hye Kyo's role as doctor in the drama)

Wearing similar shirt like hers in episode 9! #crazyfans

Watch this drama if you haven't already!

My Top 10 Foods To Eat In Chiang Mai

I finally have some time to compile this blog post that was on my "to-blog" list for so long! I was totally off the radar during the exam week, full concentration is the most important thing and I had to put things away for a while including piano practice! 2016 has been so much more of a hectic year for me but I feel so satisfying each time when I accomplished something.

Alright back to my topic, here it is for my TOP 10 FOODS TO EAT IN CHIANG MAI!

1. Khao Soi

Khao Soi is a Burmese-influenced dish served widely in northern Laos and northern Thailandm, the name means ''cut rice'' in Thai. This dish came up the first when I googled ''must eat'' in Chiang Mai. It is served with curry-like soup base, it taste very alike with our Malaysian's curry noodle but the soup is not as thick and oily as our curry. The soup base is more clear compare to ours.

The vegetarian Khao Soi (50 bath)

The chicken Khao Soi (50 bath)

2. Mango Stick Rice

Mango stick rice is a must try when visiting to Thailand! We ordered this Mango Stick Rice with Ice Cream and it taste so heavenly!

(70 bath)

3. Fruit Shake

This is something unexpected for me, fruit shakes are sold in every nook and corner in Chiang Mai. The best drink to hydrate and replenish some vitamins from fresh fruit while travelling!

Left (Mango Fruit Shake)/ Right (Passion Fruit Fruit Shake) - 50 bath each

4. Mango Pancake

I just want to have mango in everything! Well it's a special pancake sold in the restaurant, not a remarkable taste for both me and Xiang but you should try it!

120 bath

We had Khao Soi, Mango Stick Rice, Fruit Shakes and Mango Pancake all in the same restaurant - Sailomjoy.

[Address: 319 Mun Mueang Rd, Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai, Thailand]

Now let's move on to other restaurants for more scrumptious Thai local food!

5. Coconut Curry

We had our coconut curry at Chiang Rai the day before, but we had to order this as it's one of the recommendation food in Chiang Mai! The coconut curry we had in Chiang Rai was the ''dry'' one but this one is a ''soupy'' one. Well I personally prefer the ''dry version'' but nonetheless, this isn't bad too!

Coconut curry with shrimp (150 bath)

It's cheaper for chicken or pork, which is only 100 bath. We had the coconut curry in a slightly expensive restaurant - Cooking Love. However it's more of a cozy restaurant with less crowd and air-conditioner.

It was only us at around 12 noon..

[Address: Rachadamnoen Rd Soi 1, Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai 50300, Thailand]

6. Grilled Fish

This grilled Red Tiliapia with salt very tasty! The fish meat is still juicy after grilling process! It is served with green spicy sauce which elevates the taste of the fish too!

Small - 140 bath/ Large - 160 bath

7. Grilled Prawn

I had this order this, seafood is my favourite and it's so cheap and tasty! Of course, they're fresh and juicy too!

Small - 100 bath/ Large - 150 bath

Both grilled fish and prawns are from the same restaurants - Lert Ros. It is located just right opposite of Cooking Love restaurant.

[Address: Rachadamnoen Rd Soi 1, Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai, Thailand]

Now it's time for Chiang Mai local street food!!

8. Baked Banana

This baked banana is served with sweet sauce, very filling dessert and has quite an exquisite taste!

9. Crepe

My all time favourite Thai street food! The locals call it ''Rotee'' which is quite funny, I suppose it is made like the Roti Canai in Malaysia. Quite alike, but in a sweet taste.

With Nutella sauce on top! Yum!

10. Coconut Ice Cream

Last but not least, coconut ice cream!!! Served with toppings like corns, peanuts and also coconut meat!!

Travel Tips:

1. Most of the restaurants are located in the same area, around Phae Gate.

2. Plan your time to visit the restaurants, my suggestions:
  • Breakfast or lunch : Sailomjoy
  • Lunch : Cooking Love (they were just starting to parepare when we visited at 12noon, it's air-conditioned so it's best time to avoid the heat to enjoy your meal in a more comfortable restaurant)
  • Dinner : Lert Ros (not air-conditioned, I assume it can get quite heaty in the afternoon from the grilling)
3. You may try the coffee at Sailomjoy, there are a lot of good review about their coffee art.

4. Most of the street food are at the night market around Phae Gate.

5. Parking is not convenient around Phae Gate, we parked at the parking lot which is located in between Sailomjoy and Lert Ros. Try to look at the right when you drive in the direction from Lert Ros to Sailomjoy. (p/s: parking is free/ discounted when you purchase some food or drinks on selected shops)

6. Make reservation if you choose to dine in the restaurant Lert Ros during dinner hour, it is always full. We reserved after had lunch at Cooking Love by just telling the boss, it's just right opposite!

My Skin Brightening Journey With KOSÉ

Sponsored post

I am a known candle princess (puteri lilin) to my friends, those who know me well understand that I am so afraid of the sun. Despite all the protections I've done to protect my skin from the harmful sun rays, I found a dark spot on my right cheek a few months ago! This "little dark spot" discovery awakened me and hence...my 2016's skincare resolution is to start using some brightening products. I started with some brightening masks, while waiting for my old skincare products to finish. Thankfully KOSÉ team sent in their SEKKISEI’s Special Edition Trial Kit for me to review just when I needed!

I received their trial kit 3 days after Valentine's day! What a surprise for me, they're way too sweet! 💕💕

Haven't gotten surprise like this in ages!

SEKKISEI’s Special Edition Trial Kit (RM 99)

The products included in the trial kit!

SEKKISEI lotion is 100ml and emulsion is 70ml, what a steal! So tempted to get myself another one!

Products descriptions and "How To Use" is included in the trial kit too! Very thoughtful :).

More on their product information:

Time to try out their products!

Basic care:

SEKKISEI White Liquid Wash (20ml)

About 2 pumps with this trial size to start this brightening skincare routine!

The liquid wash is more on the moisturizing one even though it's a brightening facial wash.

SEKKISEI Lotion (100ml)

I prefer to use the lotion on a cotton pat for 2nd cleansing purpose!

Pat gently on the entire face...

Then I'll split the cotton pad into half (my cotton pads aren't very good so I could only split into 2), placing both the half cotton pads onto my spot area.

SEKKISEI Emulsion (70ml)

Very moisturizing, and quick absorption too!

Special care:

SEKKISEI Clear Whitening Mask (10g)

Apply on the entire face...

Then peel it off when it's all dry!

A gentle reminder: Avoid eyebrows and hairline area, it was so funny I thought I peeled off half of my eyebrows then I only found out there was some mask left around my eyebrow area which matches my dark eyebrow so perfectly. Avoid eyes and lips area which are more sensitive too!

Clear skin after!

The SEKKISEI Clear Whitening Mask removes blackheads and whiteheads, dead skin cells while tightening the visible pores. I do feel my visible pores tightened after this mask application, but it isn't as effective in removing blackheads and whiteheads like the regular blackhead remover products such as pore strips.

Bihadagoyomi mask (3 pcs)

Place the Bihadagoyomi mask on the cap of SEKKISEI lotion.....

and soak it with SEKKISEI lotion!

Ready to use when it's all puffed up!

Remove the mask after 5-10 mins.

Perfect use for to achieve the quick hydrated and radiant skin. Usually I would use this method before applying makeup or to wake up my tired skin in the morning.

Skin Brightening (Fruit) Diet:

Ever since I started using SEKKISEI’s trial kit, I implemented this Skin Brightening Diet by taking in fruits that helps in skin brightening on daily basis. Just like someone who started going gym, they've to change their diet in order to achieve the body shape they desire for. Even before this I'm a fruit maniac, but I wasn't picky on the choices of fruit. Now I make sure that I've to at least take in one of the fruits from my Skin Brightening Diet list everyday.

Fruits that are high in Vitamin C helps a lot, my mom told me that she used to take Vitamin C supplements to reduce her freckles when she was younger. Other fruits such as papaya, apple, pineapple, berries and etc. are effective in skin brightening too!

Hopefully I could achieve a more radiant, translucent, and brighter ''Snow White'' skin soon!

Overall, SEKKISEI range is surprisingly moisturizing enough. There are too many brightening skincare products which are less moisturizing and harsh to sensitive skin. This range is very gentle to my skin and I love its soft floral scent too!
