Is Social Media Toxic?

Twitter...

Tumblr...

Pinterest...

Instagram...

Snapchat...

Checking Facebook status updates, scrolling on Instagram photos, reading tweets, and the list goes on, it sounds pretty common in this digital world. But wait....!!

"Why are we doing that? Repeatedly everyday?"

I myself did the same thing too, refreshing Facebook, Instragram and Twitter everyday, without knowing why. Recently, I managed to shook off my addiction of scrolling on Instagram and keeping updates to tweets, but not Facebook, and Dayre, just not yet. 

Why I think social media is toxic?

I am a quite outdated person with no data plan in this digital world, and I purposely don't want to subscribe one, because I don't need it. My routine on weekdays are just piano practicing, and piano teaching on weekends. Do you like your piano teacher keep scrolling his/ her phone while teaching you? Well I see some teachers do that, and I feel bad for the student. In my teaching concept, students are not pay you to check updates on your social media or replying unimportant messages.



However I discovered there's one social media isn't ruining my daily life, but on the contrary, it helps me in my life. It's Dayre.

I am only learning with one private teacher, and often I feel lonely and helpless in my journey of music learning. I've no learning buddies, and no one to discuss with when it comes to music-related topics, or even seek for advises when I needed help in decision making. Since I joined the Dayre community, I met quite a number of musicians (mainly pianists) and music lovers via this apps, and since then, my life is changing. They are mostly Malaysians taking piano course at different sides of the world, and they truly open my eyes to the music world. 

Thanks to an encouraging Dayree, I made a major change in my life recently. I changed my piano teacher. It may not sounded like a big deal, but my previous teacher meant a lot to me, she helped me a lot in my piano teaching career, and she's also my current employer. So I was very reluctant to change a piano teacher, ignoring this Dayree's advice for quite some time. Thanks to her constant encouragement, I made my first step and went to look for a teacher that she recommended. I had total 3 lessons with my new teacher. The change is good, I've new inspirations, and new plans.

I'm very grateful to all the helps that I received from them, to sum it up:

Thanks to another Dayree, she sent me plenty of informative videos and links, instead of just scrolling the phones on social media for God knows what reason, I'm tend to watch informative and inspiring videos, and read articles.

I even met with a Dayree! I never expected myself to meet with an online friend before!

Then I realized, social media is more than just showing off the good side of your life, chasing after likes and followers, or even stalking your friends or ex-girlfriend/boyfriend's life. It's about sharing the same interests or passions. 

It could be toxic, or useful, depending on how you use it. :)

The Other Side of Me

I needed some courage......to write this post cause I usually don't blog much about my personal life. Just done Skyping with my sister who's in Canada right now, she is asking me to BLOG MORE BLOG MORE. I always wanted to blog more, but at the end I'll do something else which I think I never get enough of. That's the passion I suppose? I spend lots of time doing it and I still don't feel that's enough.

 Hahahaa...sounds so thick face but that's the way I feel. :p

Inspirations.

It's been so long, or maybe I never blog about personal things, or thoughts. But today I got the mood to write so I better write down first, maybe I will delete this post after I re-read it LOL! I swear tonight I was gonna update my blog on my Singapore trip, but guess I have to delay it cause I was overpracticed my piano, AGAIN. My right hand is kinda sore now and this is the 3rd time I'm experiencing muscle pain from overpracticing. :( So this maybe the right time for me to write some personal thinking - wanted to blog so much but my hand is too painful to edit so many photos.

I always thought that I have to be more hardworking than anybody else cause I kinda switched my career and started late than anyone else. (I started learnt piano when I was 10 but stopped when I was doing my Pre-U). Practicing at least 3 hours a day, sometimes up to 5 hours nowadays. Until today, my practice mindset has finally changed.

Because of him, I'm so inspired that musical is about feelings, is not just come from the hardcore practicing. And I do realize that sometimes I feel a drastic improvement on my playing after I take a short break, music is really amazing that sometimes hardwork doesn't work! What am I talking about now lol! Alright music is all about inspiration, of course, the basic practicing is important too.

Goodbye 2013, Hello 2014!

2013 is going to end in another...TWO hours. It's been a great year for me to remember as my this is the year of my changing career. I'm now officially in the music industry and piano is my best friend/ soul-mate/ love of my life! :D Although I've gone through a really rough time but it has passed and I believe that there's rainbow after the rain! 2014 will be a better year I'm certain of that :P

I guess most of you already had your new year resolutions listed down right?? I purposely sit in front of my lappie and end my piano practicing session 1 hour earlier just to think and blog about it....

1. Travel more!!!! It is really fun travelling and exploring the exotic countries with different cultures! 

2. Prepared myself with more piano repertoire. It isn't easy to memory all those pieces, but nothing is impossible!

3. Blog more...(sorry couldn't finish my travel posts this year argh but don't worry I'll be more hardworking in sharing travel tips!)

4. More exercises for healthier life (been spending too much time on piano in 2013...now should spare some more time on exercising instead...)

5. Maybe upload some video on the piano pieces hehehe....

I honestly think that new year resolution is just a wishlist if you do not have the determination to achieve all that. It's not gonna be a wishlist for me it's a TO-DO-LIST!

I admit that I wasn't active in this page for quite a while but hey...I'm back!!!! :D :D  Holiday is around the corner or some of you already started your holiday??? Feel like it's gonna be a boring holiday ( for me ) cause I'll be going back hometown. Just gonna spend another warm moment with the family but this made me dying for a short getaway...urgh! 

Alright this was some stories that happened last month. 

Went for go-kart with friends.

I know right...the car looked......like a toy car for kids =.= . I actually expected something more, not just a piece of plastic with the engine beside me! Phew~~~ it's like you expecting a speedboat but they're giving you a canoe with engine. I was speechless when I saw that.

Alright stop whining since we were already here....I'll just try my best to enjoy!

Can't believe that he actually managed to tone up his muscle so much in just one year time! He was quite skinny back then I really salute his persistence in daily exercise and diet. He's a true inspiration for all of us.

It was pretty fast when I drove that little car but the sterling is sooo sooo soooooooo hard to control, and we were basically "eating sand" for the whole race so recommend you guys wear a mask if you're planning for go-kart too! The road and car is so bumpy, and the sterling is vibrating all the time and all of our hands were sore after the ride. Anyway it was a nice experience but I definitely won't go back for this one. =.=

We were planning to surprise they boyf after go-kart. After go-kart it was near midnight and it was his bday when the clock strikes midnight!   

 Purposely went Wong Kok for supper instead of bar/pub so that he won't be suspicious.

Don't mind his messy hair after go-kart lol...should have bring hair gel for him. :p

 Thanks to all my friends who help me to surprise him! Nobody will expect a cake after a tiring car ride hehhee...

The celebration didn't end yet....we rode up to Genting next day on his bday, just to relax and enjoy the breezy air :)

Can't believe it's April nowww..... so here it goes on my...February Instagram update. Too many things too little time, wanted to keep the blog updated regularly but there's so many other thing to blog...I love my life being busy, will update the March insta soon! February is my birthday month, KK trip is actually my bday & vday treat from the boy but I had a simple birthday with the boyf @ TGIF before back hometown for CNY.

The New Look

Sorry guys for the lack of update...! It didn't mean that I have abandoned my blog, just that every time when I turn on my laptop and wanna blog abt something, I'll end up busy changing my blog header! I really reallyyyyy bad in web designing :'( . If you are still one of my loyal supporters you will see why the blog header changes so many times?? It's because I have not satisfied with any of them....Sometimes I found some really cute one on the internet but I better not to use it, copyright issues and all. Sighs....:( I feel like taking FOREVER for me to do a nice blog header but FINALLY, this is one of header I quite satisfied. *frankly speaking, I'm just 80% satisfaction lol...thanks to the nice photos taken during my trip!*

Tell me how you think about it, I didn't edit much, just change the colour a bit, add the border and  watermark that's all. Hope you'll like it! Meanwhile stay tune for my next blog update ya, FINALLY I DON'T HAVE TO BORDER MY HEADER ANYMORE yayyyy!!! :p

Sorry for the lack of update...I've been trying my best to update as much as I could, but still there're still so many pending posts!!! This should be updated last month, but I'm just blogging about it right now. Late is better than never, right? ;)

Well, if you have been following me on my Twitter or Instagram (@emmz_s), you'll definitely know that January is a really good start of 2013 for me! I've been flying to few places including Hong Kong/Macau and Kota Kinabalu for my vacation. Hehe, the best month of the year I would say :p :p

Happy Chinese New Year!

Happy Chinese New Year everyone! I wanted to post this earlier but I'm so "lucky" to fall sick on the first day of CNY, which was my birthday too :( .Sick so badly with high fever even had 2 times of paracetamol the body heat just didn't go off. And there was no clinic open on the first day of CNY too...what a memorable CNY for me this year.

If you are following in my Instagram you should know that my fever has finally gone off after an injection. OUCHHH, it hurtssss :( . Alright let's stop talking about my sickness as I feel a lot better now already just that I miss a lot of fun and nice food during first few days of CNY. I hope you're still enjoying it, the greatest festive season of Chinese isn't over yet! :p

Well, I already expect that there'll be no birthday celebration since my birthday sooo happen to fall on the first day of CNY! ( This happened for the first time in my life! ) . So the boyfie prepared an early birthday celebration of mine with a trip to KK! heheee...thankieewww thankiewwwww :D

Hello Malaysia, I'm Back!

Hi hi guyssss, I just back from 7D6N Hong Kong/ Macau trip! It was an excited but tiring trip I must say...I basically walking non-stop except my sleeping/ rest time in the hotel, phew~~~ Thank god I got to rest for a day today, must sayang sayang my "over walking" feet now T_T. 

There're tons and tons of photos taken ( more than 8GB omaigawddddd....with some cute videos of dolphins/ penguins and other..... very very cuttteeeee la when I looked back just now awwww ♥♥).  

Will try my best to update soon, but the boyfie just booked another flight to Kota Kinabalu, I'm flying again this Thursday! /=.=  I'm now too exhausted and really not in the mood doing research ady, anyone been to KK please advise the MUST GO/ MUST EAT pleasee??? Or I should just call off this KK trip?

Hello guys! Some of you already know that today is my first day in Hong Kong! I know I should be enjoying night life now but I'm lying in my bed blogging instead... I'm just too exhausted walking whole day long till my leg is numb now... :(

It's already mid Jan 2013, and I just recovered from a week's flu =.= . I'm so dedicated to blog once I recovered, one of my new year resolution hehee... :) . Time really doesn't wait, they speed faster than anything! Like usual, I'll update some of my pictures from Instagram but this time, there's some little difference. I miss someone, who? My naughty sister :( . She's now on the other side of this planet, Canada. I didn't know I'll miss her so much till she's gone. Now I know, sisterhood.
